An interesting game for Aishin Sea Horses (10-1) which hosted in Kariya 3rd placed Diamond Dolphins (4-7). First ranked Aishin Sea Horses managed to get a 10-point victory 103-93. Aishin Sea Horses dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Diamond Dolphins' 46. They outrebounded Diamond Dolphins 36-19 including 25 on the defensive glass. Aishin Sea Horses looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. The former international swingman Makoto Hiejima (190-90) contributed with 19 points and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) answered with 17 points and 6 assists and American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Diamond Dolphins. Four Aishin Sea Horses and five Diamond Dolphins players scored in double figures. Diamond Dolphins' coach gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Aishin Sea Horses. They maintain first place with 10-1 record, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Loser Diamond Dolphins keep the third position with seven games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Osaka Evessa (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Diamond Dolphins will play against Toshiba Thunders and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
