Very important is a road loss of third ranked Shiga L-Stars (4-7) against fifth ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (5-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Shiga L-Stars were defeated by San-en NeoPhoenix in Hamamatsu 75-61. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Shiga L-Stars. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Cartier Martin (201-84, college: Kansas St.) who led the winners and scored 20 points. Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) accounted for 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American-Israeli center DOr Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and guard Narito Namizato (172-89) added 6 points and 6 assists respectively for Shiga L-Stars in the defeat. Shiga L-Stars' coach Shawn Dennis let to play eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San-en NeoPhoenix moved-up to second place, which they share with Hitachi SR and Niigata Albirex. Loser Shiga L-Stars keep the third position with seven games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. San-en NeoPhoenix will meet Yokohama BC (#6) on the road in the next round. Shiga L-Stars will play against the league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
