Everything could happen in San Sebastian at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked RETAbet BB and 13th ranked Gipuzkoa had identical 2-3 record. But Gipuzkoa was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Bilbao 91-87 on Sunday night. Gipuzkoa trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 32-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 87-91 at the end of the game. Gipuzkoa was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Bosnian-Serbian forward Dejan Todorovic (197-94) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Alex Mumbru (202-79, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jordan Swing (198-90, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) who recorded 19 points and 6 rebounds and Canadian point guard Kenny Chery (180-92, college: Baylor) added 20 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. RETAbet BB (3-3) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with UCAM Murcia. Gipuzkoa lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. RETAbet BB will face higher ranked FC Barcelona (#4) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gipuzkoa will play against Zaragoza (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
