Regular Season Round 11: Ehime OV - Gunma 74-71

Important game to mention about took place in Matsuyama. Second ranked Orange Vikings (9-2) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-ranked Gunma (6-5) 74-71 in the fight for the second place. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Vincentian power forward Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) accounted for 10 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and point guard Masashi Obuchi (182-83) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Gunma in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Orange Vikings. They maintain second place with 9-2 record behind leader Shinshu BW which they share with defeated Gunma. Gunma at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. They share it with Hiroshima D. and Kumamoto V.. Orange Vikings will play against league's leader Fukuoka Rizing at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gunma will play against Tokyo Z and hopes to get back on the winning track.
