Regular Season Round 4: Soles - Aaguacateros 90-63

The game in Mexicali supposed to be also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Aaguacateros (2-2) played at the court of fifth ranked Soles (3-1). Soles smashed Aaguacateros 90-63 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aaguacateros. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Soles dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Aaguacateros' 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Aaguacateros' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Soles made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward John Flowers (200-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: Octagon Europe) who added 21 points during the contest. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican Christopher Gaston (201-89, college: Fordham) responded with 12 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Tyrone White (201-90, college: CSU Bakersfield) scored 14 points. Four Aaguacateros players scored in double figures. Aaguacateros' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Soles keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fuerza Regia and Capitanes. Loser Aaguacateros dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. Soles will face Toros (#10) in Nuevo Laredo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aaguacateros will play against Mineros (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
