Date: October 29, 2017
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated DCU Mercy (2-1) in Dublin on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by Liffey Celtics (4-0) 71-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of DCU Mercy. They outrebounded DCU Mercy 46-27 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. Guard Jazmen Boone (173, college: William & Mary) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Forward Devon Brookshire (188-94, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Alexandra Masaquel (178, college: William & Mary) produced 17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and guard Tiffany Corselli (165, college: Niagara) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. DCU Mercy's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Liffey Celtics have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Glanmire. DCU Mercy at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. They share the position with Brunell. Liffey Celtics will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. DCU Mercy will play at home against the league's leader Glanmire (#1) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
