Regular Season Round 7: Victoria - Olimpia 54-107

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Grodno: Olimpia (#2) and Victoria (#7). Victoria was crushed at home by 53 points 54-107 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game without a history. Olimpia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Victoria's 30. Olimpia forced 29 Victoria turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for guard Palina Zelinskaya (173-98) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Arina Masko (175-99) accounted for 19 points for the winning side. Five Olimpia players scored in double figures. Point guard Yuliya Vasilevich (165-1) came up with 22 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Anhelina Ambrozevits (176-0) added 10 points respectively for Victoria in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olimpia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 4-0 record behind leader Gorizont, which they share with Tsmoki-Minsk. Victoria at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Olimpia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Victoria will play on the road against Gorizont II (#6) in Minsk and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
