Very important is a road loss of third ranked Kanazawa Sam. (5-6) against fourth ranked Kumamoto V. (6-5) on Monday night. Visiting Kanazawa Sam. was crushed by Kumamoto V. in Kumamoto 96-69. Kumamoto V. shot 62.1 percent from the field and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Kumamoto V. had a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Kumamoto V. players scored in double figures. Kumamoto V.'s coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) produced 26 points and 7 rebounds and center Luke Evans (203-91, college: Cal.Baptist) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kumamoto V.. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Hiroshima D. and Gunma. Kanazawa Sam. lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Toyotsu FE and Cyberdyne IR. Kumamoto V. will meet Yamagata (#4) on the road in the next round. Kanazawa Sam. will play against Iwate Big Bulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
