Regular Season Round 7: Moycullen - KUBS 93-81

Bottom-ranked KUBS (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-81 loss to sixth ranked Moycullen (4-2) in Galway on Monday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to KUBS's 38. They outrebounded KUBS 37-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. Moycullen looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by KUBS's players. It was a great evening for American forward Brandon McGuire (193, college: Moravian) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. International forward Paul Freeman (201-83) helped adding 13 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Four Moycullen players scored in double figures. Moycullen's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side swingman Brian Andrews (196-95) responded with 27 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Eoin Chubb (188-90) scored 18 points. Moycullen moved-up to fourth place, which they share with UCC Demons. KUBS lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Maree. Moycullen will meet at home higher ranked Swords Thunder (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. KUBS will play against DCU Saints (#10) in Dublin and hopes to get finally their first victory.
