Regular Season Round 6: AIK Basket - Alvik Basket 46-71

Very expected game in Solna where 9th ranked AIK Basket (1-5) was crushed by fourth ranked Alvik Basket (4-1) 71-46 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Alvik Basket. AIK Basket managed to win second period 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding AIK Basket to just 2 points in first quarter. Alvik Basket forced 21 AIK Basket turnovers. The best player for the winners was international forward Elin Ljunggren (185-96) who scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Martina Stalvant (176-89, agency: Two Points) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Gunesh Ozturk (168-97) who recorded 15 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Malin Edlund (183-88) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alvik Basket moved-up to third place, which they share with Telge. AIK Basket lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Alvik Basket will meet league's leader Lulea Basket on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. AIK Basket will play against Norrkoping Dolphins (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
