Regular Season Round 4: Panathinaikos - Promitheas 96-64

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Promitheas (3-1) in Athens on Monday night. Visitors were rolled over by Panathinaikos (4-0) 96-64. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Promitheas. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Panathinaikos. Promitheas managed to win third quarter 20-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Panathinaikos dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Promitheas' 36. Panathinaikos forced 20 Promitheas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international point guard Nick Calathes (198-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. American James Gist (206-86) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Bosnian forward Milan Milosevic (203-85, agency: BeoExcell) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Senegalese forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Promitheas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panathinaikos have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 4-0 record. Promitheas at the other side keeps the second place with one game lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Panathinaikos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panionios.
