Regular Season Round 5: Batumi - Sokhumi 83-64

The game between fourth ranked Batumi (3-1) and 8th ranked Sokhumi (1-4) in Batumi on Wednesday ended with biggest points difference. Batumi outscored guests from Tbilisi 83-64. Center Vakhtang Qadaria (205-89, college: Mineral Area CC) nailed 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and Ukrainian point guard Illya Shemosiuk (188-85) accounted for 24 points. American point guard Kwan Waller (183-89, college: Ky Wesleyan) came up with 18 points and 4 assists and Ukrainian Maksym Lutsenko (190-93) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Sokhumi in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Batumi have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Kutaisi and Olimpi. Loser Sokhumi keeps the eighth position with four games lost. Batumi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sokhumi will play against Energy Invest (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
