Regular Season Round 5: Fuerza Regia - Capitanes 78-76

The biggest surprise took place in Monterrey where host Fuerza Regia (4-1) edged league's leader Capitanes (3-2) 78-76 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Capitanes. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Fuerza Regia looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fuerza Regia made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was international forward Juan Toscano (198-93, college: Marquette, agency: BeoBasket) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 blocks. American forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Gabriel Giron (192-88) produced 22 points and 6 assists and American-Dominican forward Emmanuel Andujar (198-93, college: Manhattan) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fuerza Regia keeps a position of league leader. Newly promoted Capitanes dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Aaguacateros and Soles. They were replaced at the leadership position by Fuerza Regia. Capitanes will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Fuerza Regia will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Capitanes in Mexico.
