Regular Season Round 5: Libertadores - Correcaminos 97-105

Bottom-ranked Libertadores (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 105-97 loss to leader Correcaminos (3-0) in Queretaro. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Strangely Libertadores outrebounded Correcaminos 41-26 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Libertadores helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Kennedy Jones (188-89, college: Arlington Baptist) nailed 36 points (!!!) for the winning side and international guard Cezar Guerrero (185-92, college: Fresno St.) accounted for 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Correcaminos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Dominican-Puerto Rican forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-87, college: Campbell, agency: DTMones) came up with 34 points (!!!) and American swingman Mildon Ambres (198-84, college: S.Nazarene) added 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Libertadores in the defeat. Four Libertadores players scored in double figures. Correcaminos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Newly promoted Libertadores still closes the standings with five games lost. Correcaminos will have a break next round. Libertadores will play again at home against the league's second-placed Correcaminos (#2) and hope to get finally their first victory.
