Regular Season Round 5: Breakers - 36ers 92-88

An interesting game for New Zealand Breakers (6-1) which hosted in Auckland 3rd placed Adelaide 36ers (4-4). First ranked New Zealand Breakers managed to get a 4-point victory 92-88. New Zealand Breakers outrebounded Adelaide 36ers 40-28 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Dominican-American point guard Edgar Sosa (190-88, college: Louisville) who scored 24 points. New Zealand forward Thomas Abercrombie (198-87, college: Washington St.) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. International swingman Mitch Creek (195-92) produced 24 points (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and the former international power forward Daniel Johnson (210-88, college: Pepperdine) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for New Zealand Breakers. They maintain first place with 6-1 record. Adelaide 36ers at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. New Zealand Breakers' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Perth Wildcats on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Adelaide 36ers will play against Illawarra Hawks and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
