Regular Season Round 6: Gnupverjar - Skallagrimur 96-110

D1 top team - Skallagrimur (5-0) managed to deliver another win on Friday. This time they beat fifth ranked Gnupverjar (2-3) in Reykjavik 110-96. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gnupverjar. The game was mostly controlled by Skallagrimur. Gnupverjar managed to win third quarter 38-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Skallagrimur dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Gnupverjar's 42 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Skallagrimur looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Swingman Eyjolfur Halldorsson (194-98) had a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Zac Carter (175, college: Walsh) chipped in 33 points (!!!) and 5 assists during the contest. Four Skallagrimur players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Everage Richardson (191-85, college: Co.Carolina) with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Thorir Sigvaldason (-93) scored 23 points. Gnupverjar's coach Mate Dalmay rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Skallagrimur have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-0 record. Newly promoted Gnupverjar dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Hamar. Skallagrimur are looking forward to face Snaefell (#4) in Stykkisholmur in the next round. Gnupverjar's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Reykjavik to the arena Fjolnir.
