Regular Season Round 9: Niigata R. - Toyota A. 37-95

No shocking result in a game in Tokyo where third ranked Toyota A. (8-2) smashed bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-10) 95-37 on Friday. The game without a history. Toyota A. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Niigata R. to just 5 points in first quarter. Toyota A. held Niigata R. to an opponent 22.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 53.0 percent accuracy of the winners and made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Toyota A. outrebounded Niigata R. 45-28 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Toyota A. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. The former international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-95) chipped in 14 points. Four Toyota A. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Megumi Yamasawa (162-96) who recorded 6 points and guard Ayaka Kogure (163-91) added 3 points and 6 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Toyota A.. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Mitsubishi K. Niigata R. lost their tenth game in a row. They still close the standings with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
