Regular Season Round 9: Hitachi Cougars - Toyota B SR 70-81

Another exciting game was played in Hitachinaka between eighth ranked Toyota B SR and 7th ranked Hitachi Cougars where Toyota B SR (5-4) beat Hitachi Cougars (4-5) on the road 81-70. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota B SR. Hitachi Cougars was better in fourth quarter 28-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 45-32 including 18 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for center Eri Hatanaka (178-91) who led her team to a victory with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Yui Kawahara (169-91) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Toyota B SR players scored in double figures. Guard Yuki Kitamura (170-94) answered with 15 points and center Tanaka Makoto (176-94) added 11 points in the effort for Hitachi Cougars. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toyota B SR have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Fujitsu RW. Hitachi Cougars at the other side dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Toyota B SR will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hitachi Cougars will play again on the road against Toyota B SR (#7) in Aichi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
