Regular Season Round 6: Ventspils - Valmiera 93-71

LBL top team - Ventspils (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Valmiera (2-8) 93-71. Ventspils made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Ventspils players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for the former international point guard Ingus Jakovics (186-93, college: BS Liepaja) who led his team to a victory with 18 points. The former international forward Aigars Skele (192-92) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Ventspils players scored in double figures. Ventspils' coach Roberts Stelmahers felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Viktors Iljins (212-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Janis Kaufmanis (186-89, agency: HMS) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Valmiera. Ventspils have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Valmiera lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with eight games lost.
