Regular Season Round 7: HyPo - Huima 97-64

There was no surprise in Hyvinkaa where 10th ranked Aanekosken (1-6) was crushed by fifth ranked HyPo (4-3) 97-64 on Saturday. The game without a history. HyPo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 23 Aanekosken turnovers and outrebounded them 56-40 including a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. HyPo looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Aanekosken's players. It was a great evening for the former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks. Estonian power forward Annika Koster (185-92) helped adding 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the losing side American swingman Suriya McGuire (180-91, college: Miami, FL) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 9 steals and the other American import swingman Jazmine Perkins (178-89, college: Washington St.) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains fifth place with 4-3 record. Aanekosken lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with six games lost. HyPo will meet Espoo Team (#7) on the road in the next round. Aanekosken will play against the league's leader Peli-Karhut and hope to win that game.
