Regular Season Round 6: Spezzina - Orvieto 89-49

There was a minor upset in La Spezia where 5th ranked Orvieto (2-3) was rolled over by seventh ranked Spezzina (3-3) 89-49 on Saturday. Spezzina dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Orvieto's 30. Spezzina forced 22 Orvieto turnovers and outrebounded them 45-21 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. British-Portuguese center Lavinia Da-Silva (187-88) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Chiara Cadoni (185-94) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Spezzina players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Anna Bambini (177-99) with 12 points and point guard Selene Grilli (162-99) scored 9 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Spezzina moved-up to fifth place in A2. Loser Orvieto dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Spezzina will face Savonese (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Orvieto will play against Cagliari V. (#14) and hope to win that game.
