Regular Season Round 7: Honka - Catz 65-76

Undefeated Tapiolan Honka (5-1) recorded its first loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Catz Lappeenranta (5-2) 76-65. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Tapiolan Honka. It looked good early as Tapiolan Honka took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Catz Lappeenranta had a 25-16 second period charge getting the lead and Tapiolan Honka was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-76. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Aleighsa Welch (183-93, college: S.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Natalie Day (182-90, college: Portland) contributed with 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Kiana Johnson (171-93, college: Virginia Union) answered with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and the other American import swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Tapiolan Honka. Catz Lappeenranta maintains third place with 5-2 record behind leader PeKa, which they share with ViVe. Newly promoted Tapiolan Honka dropped to the second position with one game lost. Catz Lappeenranta will play against Forssan Alku (#6) at home in the next round. Tapiolan Honka will play against ViVe (#4) in Vimpeli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
