Regular Season Round 9: Yamanashi QB - Denso Iris 63-76

Bottom-ranked Yamanashi QB (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 76-63 loss to fourth ranked Denso Iris (6-3) in Yamanashi on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 38-23 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Denso Iris made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Denso Iris outrebounded Yamanashi QB 48-30 including a 32-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who had a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals. The former international center Sakura Akaho (182-96) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). Denso Iris' coach Hiroshi Kojima used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Misuho Mizuno (171-94) who recorded 16 points and guard Uchibori Murasaki (165-94) added 8 points, 7 assists and 4 steals respectively. Denso Iris maintains fourth place with 6-3 record, which they share with Chanson V-M. Yamanashi QB lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. Denso Iris will have a break next round. Yamanashi QB will play again on the road against Denso Iris (#4) in Kariya and hopes to get finally their first victory.
