There was an upset when higher ranked Bolzano (3-3) was outplayed on the road by fourteenth ranked San Salvatore (2-4) 61-41 on Saturday. San Salvatore held Bolzano to an opponent 20.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 28.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Bolzano 58-43 including a 39-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bolzano was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international center Valentina Fabbri (196-85) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 19 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Ilenia Cordola (183-96) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Croatian power forward Ivona Matic (189-86) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and guard Maria-Daniela Servillo (170-89) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. San Salvatore moved-up to thirteenth place in A2. Loser Bolzano dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. San Salvatore will face higher ranked Carugate (#11) in Corugate in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
