Regular Season Round 4: Poitiers - Vichy Clermont 48-72

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked JA Vichy and 13th ranked Poitiers had identical 1-2 record. But Poitiers was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Vichy 72-48 on Saturday night. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 39-10 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. JA Vichy dominated on the defensive end, holding Poitiers to just 3 points in third quarter and to 10 points in second half. They outrebounded Poitiers 42-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. American guard Christopher Smith (193-94, college: Utah St., agency: 3Eye) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Ivorian center Mohamed Kone (211-81, college: Valparaiso) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. JA Vichy's coach Guillaume Vizade felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naturalized Guinean swingman Sekou-Omar Doumbouya (202-0) produced 13 points and 8 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican Devon Collier (203-91, college: Oregon St.) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. JA Vichy (2-2) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Poitiers keeps the thirteenth position with three games lost. JA Vichy will face higher ranked Sluc Nancy (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Poitiers will play against ALM Evreux (#18) and hope to win that game.
