Regular Season Round 9: Handlova - Zilina 89-85

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Handlova and 10th ranked Zilina had identical 2-6 record. This time Handlova used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Zilina 89-85. Handlova players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Zilina's players. It was a good game for Swiss point guard Jeremy Landenbergue (189-93, college: Cuesta JC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists. American guard Marcus Tyus (185-94, college: Omaha) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Handlova's coach Krunoslav Krajnovic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Walter Wright (178, college: Montana) answered with 37 points (!!!) and the other American import center Brandon Holcomb (201-93, college: Radford) added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Zilina. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Handlova (3-6) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Karlovka. Newly promoted Zilina stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. They share it with Nova Ves. Handlova will play against higher ranked Kosice (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zilina will play against Karlovka (#7) in Bratislava and hopes to get back on the winning track.
