Regular Season Round 6: Ensino - Rioja 72-67

There was a small surprise in Lugo where tenth ranked Maquinaria Ensino (3-3) beat 7th ranked Rioja (3-3) 72-67 on Saturday. Maquinaria Ensino forced 23 Rioja turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Regina Gomez (173-82, agency: ProDep Management) who scored 16 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Forward Rocio Varela (186-93) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Maquinaria Ensino players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Intza Lizarazu (171-91) who recorded 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American center Erika Livermore (185-93, college: Fair Dickinson) added 21 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Maquinaria Ensino moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Rioja. Maquinaria Ensino will face Segle XXI (#14) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
