Important game to mention about took place in Las Palmas. Top-ranked Gran Canaria (6-0) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 4th ranked Valencia (4-2) 63-62 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Valencia. Valencia was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 15-10 third quarter run of Gran Canaria. It was a good game for American point guard Starr Breedlove (168-93, college: UTEP) who saved her team from a defeat with 19 points and 5 steals. The other American import guard Erica Covile (185, college: Temple) contributed with 9 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American center Renee Bennett (196-94, college: Ball St.) replied with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Montenegrin guard Snezana Aleksic (173-89, agency: ProDep Management) added 16 points in the effort for Valencia. Four Valencia players scored in double figures. Gran Canaria have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group B with 6-0 record. Valencia at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Gran Canaria will play against league's second-placed Leganes on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Valencia will play against Real Canoe in Madrid and hopes to get back on the winning track.
