Regular Season Round 6: Grasshoppers - Royal Eagles 84-83

The most exciting game of round 6 in the Eredivisie took place in Katwijk. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Royal Eagles (3-3) to seventh ranked Grasshoppers (2-4) 84-83 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Royal Eagles. Grasshoppers forced 19 Royal Eagles turnovers and outrebounded them 52-39 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Fleur Kuijt (178-96) scored 22 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Deborah Vos (181-96) chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Grasshoppers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Laura Westerik (176-98) with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Carlin Scholten scored 20 points. Royal Eagles' coach Joost van Rangelrooy rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Grasshoppers moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Amazone. Royal Eagles at the other side keep the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Loon Lions. Grasshoppers is looking forward to face Amazone (#6) in Utrecht in the next round. Royal Eagles will play at home against Binnenland and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
