There was no surprise when 7th ranked Canberra Capitals (2-7) were defeated at home by second ranked Sydney Uni Flames (6-2) 81-72 on Saturday. Sydney Uni Flames made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Sydney Uni Flames outrebounded Canberra Capitals 41-28 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Asia Taylor (188-91, college: Louisville, agency: LBM Management) who scored 29 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Belinda Snell (180-81) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international point guard Natalie Hurst (164-83) produced 13 points and 8 assists and forward Keely Froling (188-96, college: SMU) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Canberra Capitals' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Canberra Capitals lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with seven games lost. Sydney Uni Flames will face Boomers (#4) in Melbourne in the next round. Canberra Capitals will play on the road against Perth Lynx (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
