Regular Season Round 9: Mitsubishi K. - Haneda Vickies 87-66

There was no surprise in Nagoya where 10th ranked Haneda Vickies (2-8) were crushed by second ranked Mitsubishi K. (8-2) 87-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Mitsubishi K.. Haneda Vickies was better in fourth quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mitsubishi K. dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Haneda Vickies' 36. They outrebounded Haneda Vickies 52-28 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. International center Asako Oh (189-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. Four Mitsubishi K. players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Nanoko Motohashi (164-93) who recorded 11 points and 7 assists and forward Mami Koyama (180-95) added 17 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Mitsubishi K.. They maintain second place with 8-2 record behind leader JX-Eneos S., which they share with Toyota A. Haneda Vickies lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
