Regular Season Round 12: Ryukyu GK - Hokkaido L. 98-71
Date: November 5, 2017
Rather expected game in Okinawa where one of their biggest challengers Hokkaido L. (8-5) was crushed by first ranked Ryukyu GK (8-5) 98-71 on Sunday. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Ryukyu GK shot 63.3 percent from the field. Ryukyu GK outrebounded Hokkaido L. 38-23 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Ryukyu GK looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Hassan Martin (201-95, college: Rhode Island) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and international guard Ryuichi Kishimoto (176-90) who added 18 points during the contest. Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Daisuke Noguchi (196-83) scored 16 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ryukyu GK maintains first position with 8-5 record, which they share with defeated Hokkaido L. Ryukyu GK will face Nishinomiya S. (#4) in Hyogo in the next round. Hokkaido L. will play at home against Hitachi Sunrockers and hope to win that game.
