Regular Season Round 13: Akita NH - Fukushima 64-76

Undefeated Akita Happinets (12-1) recorded its first loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Fukushima (9-4) 76-64. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Akita Happinets. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Fukushima shot 29 for 41 from the free-throw line, while Akita Happinets only scored nine points from the stripe. Akita Happinets were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Jarred Shaw (208-90, college: Utah St.) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Shota Kanno (187-92) contributed with 17 points for the winners. American center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) answered with 13 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Toarlyn Fitzpatrick (203-89, college: S.Florida) added 10 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Akita Happinets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Akita Happinets' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Fukushima maintains second place with 9-4 record having just two points less than leader Gunma. Akita Happinets at the other side still keep top position with one game lost. Fukushima will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Akita Happinets will play on the road against Iwate Big Bulls and hope to get back on the winning track.
