Regular Season Round 13: Kanazawa Sam. - Iwate Big Bulls 79-48

There was no surprise in Ishikawa where 6th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (2-11) were crushed by third ranked Kanazawa Sam. (7-6) 79-48 on Sunday. Kanazawa Sam. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Iwate Big Bulls' players. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) for the winners. His fellow American import center Luke Evans (203-91, college: Cal.Baptist) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds. Kanazawa Sam.'s coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American center Jalen McGaughy (208, college: Dillard) produced 14 points and 6 rebounds and guard Noriyuki Sugasawa (192-87) added 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Newly promoted Kanazawa Sam. maintains third place with 7-6 record having four points less than leader Gunma, which they share with Cyberdyne IR. Iwate Big Bulls lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Kanazawa Sam. will face Tokyo Z (#6) on the road in the next round. Iwate Big Bulls will play against the league's leader Akita Happinets and hope to win that game.
