Regular Season Round 4: Bayi R. - Shenzhen L. 79-104
Date: November 5, 2017
Bottom-ranked Bayi Rockets (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 104-79 loss to fifteenth ranked Leopards (2-2) in Ningbo on Sunday evening. They shot 62.3 percent from the field. Leopards outrebounded Bayi Rockets 48-24 including a 39-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Leopards made 12 blocks. American forward Jared Sullinger (206-92, college: Ohio St.) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks for the winners. The former international forward QuAn Gu (202-92) chipped in 25 points (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Chen Yu (206-90) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and international guard Lei Meng (193-95) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Leopards moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 7 other teams. Loser Bayi Rockets still closes the standings with four games lost. Leopards will face league's second-placed Zhejiang Guangsha Lions in Hangzhou in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Bayi Rockets will play at home against Long-Lions (#7) and look forward to get finally their first victory.
