Pepsi LBL round 5 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Al Riyadi (4-1) against leader Champville (5-0) 82-80 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Al Riyadi. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American Justin Hawkins (203-85, college: N.Mexico St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Fadi El-Khatib (198-79) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Champville players scored in double figures. American guard Quincy Douby (190-84, college: Rutgers) answered with 36 points (!!!) (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) and the former international point guard Wael Arakji (194-94) added 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Al Riyadi. Champville have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Defending champion Al Riyadi dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with Moutahed. They were replaced at the leadership position by Champville. Al Riyadi will play next round against Louaize trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Champville will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Al Moutahed in Tripoli.
