Regular Season Round 6: Martorell - Myrtia 97-82

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Myrtia (4-2) against fifteenth ranked Martorell (1-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Myrtia was defeated by Martorell in Martorell 97-82. It looked good early as Myrtia took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Martorell had a 26-21 second period charge getting the lead and Myrtia was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-97. Martorell players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Myrtia's players. Guard David Jofresa (185-95) scored 15 points and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Xavi Guirao (190-87) chipped in 18 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Chris Matagrano (206-90, college: New Hampshire) with 15 points and 6 rebounds and French guard Kevin Franceschi (190-93, college: Oklah.Baptist) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Martorell and four Myrtia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Martorell left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with Real Canoe. Myrtia at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Martorell will play against league's leader Albacete on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Myrtia will play against Zamorano and hopes to get back on the winning track.
