Very important is a road loss of second ranked Adelaide Lightning (5-3) against fourth ranked Townsville Fire (5-3) on Sunday night. Visiting Adelaide Lightning was crushed by Townsville Fire in Townsville 84-42. Townsville Fire dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Adelaide Lightning's 32. Townsville Fire forced 20 Adelaide Lightning turnovers and outrebounded them 50-29 including a 37-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Townsville Fire players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Adelaide Lightning's players. The former international center Suzy Batkovic-Brown (195-80) nailed 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and the former international center Cayla George (192-89) accounted for 6 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international center Abby Bishop (189-88) came up with 11 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Nicole Seekamp (178-92, college: S.Dakota) added 7 points respectively for Adelaide Lightning in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Townsville Fire moved-up to second place, which they share with Adelaide. Townsville Fire's next round opponent will be Bendigo Spirit (#7) at home which should be theoretically another easy game. Adelaide Lightning will play against Boomers (#4) in Melbourne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
