Regular Season Round 9: Al-Nweidrat - Al-Ahli 66-82

The biggest surprise of round 9 in Premier League took place in Nuwaidrat where guest Al-Ahli (#1) beat lower ranked Al-Nweidrat (#2) by 16 points 82-66 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Al-Nweidrat. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Al-Ahli dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Al-Nweidrat's 24. The best player for the winners was Hussain Shaker who scored 23 points and 4 assists. American forward Quinton Doggett (206-90, college: Southern) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Bosnian-Serbian center Mile Ilic (215-84) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Ahmed Hassan (203-91, college: MiraCosta JC) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Al-Ahli and four Al-Nweidrat players scored in double figures. Al-Ahli (8-1) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place. Al-Nweidrat at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Al-Ahli's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Manama Samaheej.
