Regular Season Round 5: Shandong GS - Zhejiang GB 95-89

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Golden Bulls (2-3) lost to fifth ranked Golden Stars (4-1) in Jinan 89-95 on Tuesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Golden Stars dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Golden Bulls' 48. They outrebounded Golden Bulls 53-41 including 17 on the offensive glass. International forward Yanyuhang Ding (200-93) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Lithuanian power forward Donatas Motiejunas (213-90) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Golden Stars players scored in double figures. American swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) answered with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals and the former international center Dayu Zhang (212-91) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Golden Bulls. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Golden Stars. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Liaoning FL and Jiangsu D. Golden Bulls at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with three games lost. Golden Stars will face Jilin Tigers (#16) in Changchun in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Golden Bulls will play on the road against Eagles (#18) in Qingdao and hope to win that game.
