Regular Season Round 9: Al-Ittihad - Hidd 82-63

Bottom-ranked Hidd (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 82-63 loss to sixth ranked Al-Ittihad (5-4) in Manama. They also forced 19 Hidd turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Hidd's players. American forward Antwan Wilkerson (201-91, college: Johnson C. Smith) nailed a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and point guard Hassan Helal (173-95) accounted for 8 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals. Nooraldeen Mohamed came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and Hussain Saqer added 24 points respectively for Hidd in the defeat. Hidd's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Al-Ittihad maintains sixth place with 5-4 record. Hidd lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with eight games lost. Al-Ittihad's next round opponent will be higher ranked Al-Nweidrat (#3) in Nuwaidrat and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hidd will play at home against Al-Muharraq (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
