The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Espanol de Talca as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Espanol de Talca defeated 5th ranked Tinguiririca S.F. at home 99-92. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tinguiririca S.F.. Espanol de Talca looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC) who scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Pablo Barraza (184-94) chipped in 17 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Gabriel Belardo (188-89, college: FIU) who recorded 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Francisco Pavez (178-92) added 17 points and 8 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Tinguiririca S.F. at the other side keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Tinguiririca S.F. will play next round against strong Universidad de Concepcion trying to get back on the winning streak. Espanol de Talca will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Universidad Catolica in Santiago.
