Regular Season Round 7: Albacete - Martorell 81-79

Fourteenth-ranked Martorell (1-6) gave a tough game to first ranked Albacete (6-1) on Wednesday. Albacete managed to secure only two-point victory 81-79. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 11 points at the halftime before their 32-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American guard Garret Covington (196-94, college: W.Illinois, agency: Two Points) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points and 5 rebounds. Cuban forward Georvys Elias (199-81) helped adding 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). At the losing side power forward Alejandro Mazaira (202-97) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and guard Xavi Guirao (190-87) scored 12 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Albacete have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-1 record. Newly promoted Martorell dropped to the fifteenth position with six games lost. Albacete are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Zamorano (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Martorell will play against Real Canoe and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
