Regular Season Round 6: Bendigo - Sydney 75-105

Date: November 9, 2017
WNBL top team - Sydney Uni Flames (7-3) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Bendigo Spirit (2-7) 105-75. They outrebounded Bendigo Spirit 40-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. Sydney Uni Flames looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. International Katie-Rae Ebzery (177-90) notched 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international Belinda Snell (180-81) supported her with 20 points and 4 assists. Five Sydney Uni Flames players scored in double figures. Even 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists by American forward Betnijah Laney (183-93, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Bendigo Spirit. Her fellow American import guard Rachel Banham (175-93, college: Minnesota, agency: LBM Management) added 21 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sydney Uni Flames have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 7-3 record. Loser Bendigo Spirit keeps the seventh place with seven games lost. Sydney Uni Flames will meet Perth Lynx (#5) on the road in the next round. Bendigo Spirit will play against Dandenong Rangers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
