Regular Season Round 7: Skallagrimur - Snaefell 108-97

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Borganes. Leader Skallagrimur faced 4th placed Snaefell. Host Skallagrimur (6-0) defeated guests from Stykkisholmur (3-3) 108-97. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Snaefell. Skallagrimur dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Snaefell's 40. They outrebounded Snaefell 57-37 including a 38-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Skallagrimur players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Snaefell was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Eyjolfur Halldorsson (194-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. American point guard Zac Carter (175, college: Walsh) contributed with 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Christian Covile (193-93, college: Adrian) answered with 35 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and point guard Geir Helgason (180-96) added 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Snaefell. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Skallagrimur have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-0 record. Snaefell at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Hamar. Skallagrimur will play against league's second-placed Breidablik in Kopavogur in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Snaefell will play on the road against Gnupverjar in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
