Regular Season Round 6: Valur - Stjarnan 110-104

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Valur (2-4) beat 8th ranked Stjarnan (2-4) in Reykjavik 110-104 on Friday. Valur made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Urald King (198-90, college: SE Oklahoma) notched 32 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and naturalized American guard Austin Bracey (190-90) supported him with 34 points (!!!). Even a double-double of 29 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) by guard Robert Sigurdsson (187-94) did not help to save the game for Stjarnan. American forward Collin Pryor (198-90, college: Northern St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 23 points and 6 rebounds. Four Stjarnan players scored in double figures. Valur moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Thor AK and Stjarnan. Stjarnan lost fourth consecutive game. Valur's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Reykjavik to the arena IR.
