Regular Season Round 6: Shanghai S. - Beikong FD 123-119

Everything could happen in Shanghai at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Sharks and 9th ranked Fly Dragons had identical 3-2 record. This time Sharks used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Beijing 123-119 on Friday night. Strangely Fly Dragons outrebounded Sharks 50-38 including 39 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) had a triple-double by scoring 54 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 10 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Nick Minnerath (207-88, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 33 points (!!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) with a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and Jordanian forward Zaid Abbas (203-83) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Fly Dragons players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Sharks have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Loser Fly Dragons dropped to the eleventh position with three games lost. Sharks will face Xinjiang Flying Tige (#5) in Urumqi in the next round. Fly Dragons' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beijing Beijing Ducks.
