Regular Season Round 7: Umea - Sodertalje 97-78

There was a change at the Basketligan leadership position after last games. Round 7 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Sodertalje Kings (5-1). They were crushed by sixth ranked Umea (3-4) 97-78 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Sodertalje Kings. Umea made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Sodertalje Kings 38-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American-Italian guard Nick Schlitzer (198-92, college: Thomas Jefferson) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points. Center Andre Nilsson (209-90) helped adding 15 points and 11 rebounds. Five Umea players scored in double figures. Umea's coach Jesper Gustavsson used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Croatian forward Toni Bizaca (202-82, agency: XL Basketball Agency) responded with 24 points and point guard Valter Lindstrom (186-95) scored 18 points and 5 assists. Umea have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Norrkoping. Sodertalje Kings at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Boras. Sodertalje Kings will play next round against strong BC Lulea trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Umea will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Norrkoping Dolphins at home.
