Regular Season Round 9: COR Victoria - Victoria 52-69

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Victoria (3-7) beat 5th ranked BrGU COR Victoria (2-6) in Brest 69-52 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Victoria. BrGU COR Victoria managed to win second period 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding BrGU COR Victoria to just 7 points in first quarter. They held BrGU COR Victoria to an opponent 19.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 34.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Point guard Yuliya Vasilevich (165-1) nailed 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and swingman Anhelina Ambrozevits (176-0) accounted for 4 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Darya Panasiuk (176-96) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and forward Anastasia Babak (177-2) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for BrGU COR Victoria in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Victoria. They moved-up to fifth place. BrGU COR Victoria lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Victoria will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BrGU COR Victoria will play against the league's leader Olimpia (#1) in Grodno and hope to secure a win.
