Regular Season Round 7: Orvieto - Cagliari V. 80-48

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Cagliari V. (1-5) was crushed on the road by eighth ranked Orvieto (3-3) 80-48. Orvieto outrebounded Cagliari V. 38-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Rachele Porcu (165-97) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. Swingman Anna Bambini (177-99) accounted for 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side. Four Orvieto players scored in double figures. Power forward Francesca Orsini (185-95) came up with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Bulgarian point guard Iva Georgieva (170-96, college: Salt Lake CC) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Cagliari V. in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Orvieto went down to ninth position (A2) due to points difference. Cagliari V. at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with five games lost. Orvieto's next round opponent will be higher ranked Palermo (#4) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cagliari V. will play against the league's second-placed RR Retail Galli (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
